Leadership and Child Rights Workshop
The workshop was attended by a total of 71 young people, including 36 girls and 35 boys, and focused on facilitating deeper reflection of young people on cricket, leadership and child rights through participatory training methodologies.
After the initial icebreakers, the participating young people were engaged in an immersive review of the cricket tournament, where they reflected on key learnings from the past 2 days. Next, through videos and participatory discussions, the young people were engaged in conversations on child abuse and child rights, where they shared their experiences and thoughts on the importance of ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all young people, irrespective of their age, gender or socio-economic background. The young people were then divided into groups, where they prepared comprehensive action plans for promoting child rights in their schools and communities, demonstrating their willingness to emerge as leaders and changemakers.
The workshop facilitators and guests were impressed by the participating young people's communication and teamwork skills, leadership abilities, awareness on key issues of gender and child rights, and maturity far beyond their young age.
