Workshop on leadership and rights

The participants of the Upamanyu Mallik cricket tournament took part in a workshop on leadership and child rights at CYSD, Bhubaneshwar. The first part of the workshop facilitated by the PSD team facilitators saw the children reflecting on their role in the cricket field their notion of leadership and leadership styles. The second part of the workshop facilitated by Sumona DasGupta, mother of Upamanyu Mallik had the children engaging in story telling, role plays, and discussions around an award winning short film on the notion of child rights and responsibilities. Bringing Upamanyu Mallik directly into the conference room Sumona DasGupta related anecdotes from his life that had the participants having an animated discussion on how rights, duties and responsibilities are balanced and how the principle of non discrimination is a cornerstone of the United Nation Convention of the rights of the Child. The children showed a deep experiential understanding of leadership and rights based on their own everyday experiences and actively participated in the participatory workshop.
